Save on your energy bills with the Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme
The Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme (GHGVS) has been introduced by the Government to improve energy efficiency in domestic properties.
Among the range of primary measures included in the scheme is cavity wall insulation, which can prevent heat from escaping through your walls, reducing your energy use and cutting your heating bills.Find out if you're eligible
What is cavity wall insulation?
Most houses built from the 1990s onwards already have some kind of cavity wall insulation to keep the heat from escaping. However, if your house is older than that, it may not have any wall insulation at all.
Installing it involves fitting materials that inhibit heat transfer within the inner and outer brickwork of the property. These bounce heat back into the room, giving you an even temperature and reducing draughts.Find out if you're eligible
How much does cavity wall insulation cost?
The usual cost of installing cavity wall installation varies depending on the size of the property, with £725 for a detached house and £475 for a semi-detached being the typical prices.
Whether you live in a large detached house or a small flat, you should be able to make back the installation cost in just 5 years or less due to the savings you’ll make.Find out if you're eligible
Am I eligible for the Green Homes Grant?
Every household is eligible for a £5,000 voucher, which covers 2/3 of the cost of the energy-efficient improvements up to the £5,000 maximum. For example, if the cavity wall installation costs £725, the grant would cover £483, while you would contribute £241.
However, if you’re on a low income or claim certain benefits, you could get a voucher of up to £10,000 which covers the entire cost of improvements, without the requirement of a customer contribution.
